Since founding Valued Recruitment, we’ve been huge advocates of the work of Pregnant Then Screwed, a charity dedicated to ending the Motherhood Penalty.
We partnered with Founder Joeli Brearley and Interim Chair Molly Rowan to recruit a new Chair of the Board and two Board Trustees, helping the charity strengthen its leadership as its impact and community continued to grow.
The brief was to reach people from geographically diverse backgrounds who could bring a wealth of experience across legal, communications, HR and fundraising. Just as importantly, we wanted to create an inclusive Trustee recruitment process capable of reaching talented people beyond the traditional Board recruitment networks.
The campaign generated more than 100 applications, giving us an exceptionally strong and diverse candidate pool from which to shortlist.
It’s a brilliant example of how values-led charity recruitment can widen access to leadership opportunities while helping organisations build Boards that better reflect the communities they serve.
